1859: Angie Halliday, Wed 10 Dec - Sat 31 Jan 09

Much of Angie Halliday's recent work involves the moving image, which takes on the form of video installations. These pieces reflect upon, not only the visual aspect of the moving image but also the acoustic and spatial elements of moving image practices. Her latest work, entitled 1859, demonstrates an interest in how the technical and narrative conventions of cinema may be used in video, such as how the establishing shot or the close-up shot may be subverted. It seeks to encourage another way of looking at the moving image by offering an alternative point of view. The sound and vision of 1859, reflects the artist's interest in a particular historical era and the class system that existed at the time.

Angie Halliday studied at the University of Ulster where she gained a Master of Fine Art with distinction in 2005. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. This is her first solo exhibition in Belfast.

Angie will host a free gallery talk on Wednesday 10 December at 2pm. Admission is free and advance booking is not required.
